BHA for oily and combination skin
BHA (salicylic acid) is oil-soluble, so it can work inside oily pores rather than only on the surface. That is why 2% BHA exfoliants are usually suggested for oily and combination skin, visible pores and blackheads.
BHA vs AHA
AHAs (such as glycolic or lactic acid) are water-soluble and work on the surface of the skin. BHA is oil-soluble and reaches into pores.
Combination skin
Combination skin usually means an oily T-zone with drier cheeks. Apply the BHA to the oily areas first; on the drier areas use less, or skip them on some evenings.
What Glowness pairs with the BHA
Alongside 2% plant-derived salicylic acid, the Glowness 2% BHA Serum contains chamomile and calendula extracts, aloe vera juice, D-panthenol (vitamin B5) and horse chestnut seed extract.
Who it is not for
- Skin that is only dry.
- Pregnant, breastfeeding or allergic to salicylic acid: consult your GP or pharmacist before use.
- Anyone using prescription retinoids or isotretinoin: ask your prescriber, GP or pharmacist before adding a BHA.
- Children.
